Just because I can't relive it enough...

It has been six days since I became a marathon finisher. I still can't believe that I did it. It seems quite surreal actually.

I had decided quite some time ago that this week would be a complete week of rest for me and I stuck with that plan (easily). No workouts whatsoever. Putting your body through something that extreme takes its toll. My hip is still bothering me but everything else feels good now so I'll be hitting the bike later today. I had planned on a short run but think my hip needs a longer break. I don't want to risk injury since Houston is only 12 weeks away.

Trevor and I purchased our race photos in digital format. There were several photographers throughout the course and I was quite impressed to see that they selected vantage points that would actually provide some scenery that we ran by.

Starting point for the full marathon (approx 250 runners):

I wish my eyes weren't closed!

Sand dunes in the background:

Still running through the national park:

I believe this photo was taken several km after the park but a few km before reaching the trail system:

My husband has been making fun of me for this one because I'm actually smiling... he says that most people don't use a marathon for a photo op... I can't help it... this picture was taken somewhere in the last 4-5km of the event and we're so close to finishing!
Almost there... just a couple more steps to the first mat:

Look at that burst of speed at the end!

Have you ever seen such a look of RELIEF? It's finally over!

The very last mat... at long last:

In other news (like there is any other news?)...

I had so much fun at my second cake decorating class! We actually got to decorate a cake. I designed a little happy face candy corn to decorate and overall I'm pleased with the end result. I just wish I'd had more time in the class to darken my icing colours. Next week I'll be better prepared.

I had sooooo much fun at that class that I immediately bought a few cake pans and a couple of more tips so that I can bake and decorate a couple of cakes this weekend! I'm going to bake a cake for DS's class and for my office with a Halloween design. I'll post pics... hopefully...

Now, off to get dressed, do some laundry, get the cakes in the oven so they can cool and enjoy this cold, rainy Saturday!

Those are all fantastic pictures, Faith Ann! What a great idea for the race to have photographers and let you buy the photos. Enjoy decorating your cakes; I'd love to see some photos!

Great pics! Your hair has gotten a lot longer since the last time I saw it. Cake decorating always looks like so much fun. I can't wait to see your pics.

Congrats on your race. It was wonderful to finally put a face to a blog. Your pitcures are great. I haven't looked at mine yet except for the ones Philip took during the race.

Those hills were something else weren't they... It was so wonderful to get to UPEI and know that it was down hill from there. I was looking forward to seeing the old A&W at the bottom of the hill but they changed it to a Subway. I guess I will just have my childhood memories of trips to A&W for a baby burger and root beer.
