Hockey Night

Last night, we took Cameron to see the annual Police Association's benefit hockey game.  The police force had a team that played against some Maritime All Star players (a few former NHL players).  It's a very child-friendly hockey game that is not necessarily about hockey skills or stunning plays.  Quite the opposite.  It's almost torture for adults lol.  However, Cameron loved it.  He was commenting on what an awesome game it was the entire drive home.

Thankfully, it was only two periods long and only occurs once a year!

The arrival of the Zamboni always brings a smile, unfortunately he's dancing too much and it made for a blurry picture:

A special guest dropped the puck:

The goalie needed a "potato chip break" and stopped playing in the middle of the first period to eat a bag of chips:

Some others joined him and then they threw bags (and bags) of chips into the crowd for the next 10 minutes (no wonder the game lasted forever):

At this point in the game, the entire police officer's team was in the penalty box, so they brought out their backup players.  The children were about 5-7 years old, I'd say.  The "all stars" played with 18-inch plastic hockey sticks.  There was also a puck for each child, so lots of action on the ice for a few minutes:
Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of "Alexia Ovechkin".  The entire game is almost like watching a play/skit and last night was about Alexia trying to impress an NHL scout in the crowd and make it into the NHL like her brother.  Very, very corny but it raises a lot of money for local groups and charities and is very entertaining for children.  Cameron definitely had a fantastic time, he compared it to watching TV or a play because it had a storyline.

Busy weekend ahead!!

  • Family movie night

Those games are so much fun! Way back when Holly was that age (all 2-3 years ago) she got to be one of those little kids playing against the all stars and they were so kind and it was a great adventure for her :):):)
